Useful Hacks For Doing Your Nails

Hey peeps...

Doing our nails, applying nail polish, adding a pop of colour to the nails or opting for some artistic nail art designs definitely feels wonderful. And, I just like to flaunt them every now and then. For the flawless process of doing all this kinda stuff, here I represent some really useful hacks that are going to save your time, money and efforts.

Episode 1: Handle Nail Polish Bottle With Care!

Nail polish bottle hacks.

In this episode, you’ll get to know about hacks related to ‘How to handle nail polish bottle effectively?’

1. Roll your nail polish bottle instead of shaking, to avoid air bubbles while applying it.

2. Loosen a stubborn nail polish lid by soaking it in hot water upside down for a few minutes.

3. Spread petroleum jelly (Vaseline) around the lip of the bottle before closing it, to prevent the polish from sealing shut.

4. Store your nail polish upright in a box 📦 with painted stickers on top to indicate the colours.

5. Unscrew a tight lid by wrapping a rubber band around the handle for better grip while twisting.

6. Keep your paint bottles in a cool, dry & dark place aka your fridge to help the formula to last longer.

7. Choose the right white. White nail polish is a must wear shade & while choosing a bottle, make sure the formula is thick, creamy & opaque.

Episode 2 : Effective Tips & Tricks For Doing Your Nails!

Tips & tricks while operating nail polish.

In this episode, we’ll discuss hacks for doing our nails.

1. Paint a white craft glue as a base coat before painting coats of glitter polish for easy removal. Let the glue dry completely before applying the glitter polish.

2. Use a white nail polish as your basecoat to make your nail colour pop.
3. Greasing the area around the nails with petroleum jelly (Vaseline) makes it easy to clean up after the manicure. Use a cotton swab to prevent the petroleum jelly from getting on the nail.
4. Alternative way to avoid a mess is to apply a thin layer of glue in the surrounding region which can be peeled off once you are done.

5. Thin out too-thick nail polish with thinner. Just add a few drops of it into nail polish bottle. If you don’t have a thinner then nail polish remover will do just fine.

6. To get your polish dry faster, apply thin – not thick – coats of polish.

7. Remove the stubborn polish by soaking cotton pads in nail polish remover, wrapping them around your nails, and securing them with a foil for few minutes.

Episode 3 : Hacks to keep in mind before applying the polish!

In this episode, you’ll get to know about helpful hacks before applying nail polish.

1. Never saw your nails back and forth when you file them. Always stroke the file in only one direction, otherwise it will tear the tip of your nail.

2. When you want a long-lasting polish on your nails opt for a glitter polish or polish that is shimmery rather than using regular formulas.

3. You should never cut your cuticles, only push them back.
4. Stay away from quick-dry nail polish. It’s typically dehydrating and can dry out your nails.

5. Always use polish free from toulene, formaldehyde & Di butyl phthalate (DBP). These ingredients can rise health concerns if you’re exposed to them over a prolonged period of time.

6. Before starting the pedicure, soak your nails in a mixture of water and white vinegar. This will strip the nails of any natural or cosmetic oil or moisturisers which allows the nail polish to bind better.

7. Always use a base coat to prevent staining on your nails from pigmented paints & making your manicure last a couple of extra days longer.

Episode 4 : Be creative while operating nail polish & nail art design!

Hacks to follow while applying nail polish & nail art design.

In this episode, you’ll get to know about creativity you can do while operating your nails & polish.

1. You can mix loose pigments (eyeshadow pigments) with clear polish to make a custom nail shade of your choice.

2. Use the tip of a pencil eyeliner or lipliner to place a tiny art accessory like rhinestone on your nails.

3. Innovate while creating stencil. You can use tape and paper to create stencils of some beautiful designs.

4. Use sharpies for drawing fine lines on your nails. Drawing is much more convenient than painting and offers more fitness.

5. If you want a fully opaque glitter polish on your nails, then instead of using polish brush to paint directly on your nails, saturate the edge of a makeup sponge & press it on over your nail.

6. Make your neon polish pop by applying a white or an opaque nude shade as your first coat of polish.

7. Wait for at least one or two minutes before applying another coat of colour or even a top coat.

Episode 5 : Game-changing steps to follow after applying nail polish!

In this episode, you’ll get to know about hacks related to post application of nail polish.

1.  Re-purpose your old lip brush or eyeliner brush to help tidy up the edges of your nails after painting.  Simply dip the brush into the nail polish remover and swipe around the cuticle area once you have finished your polish application to give a flawless finish.

2.  Swipe on cuticle oil over your nails after you have painted your nails.  If you accidentally hit them against something, the oil offers some slip, so they are less likely to nick.  If you don’t have cuticle oil, then olive oil or coconut oil will also work perfectly.

3.  Stay away from hot water. Hot water is nail polish’s natural-born enemy. It causes the nail bed to expand, forcing the polish to expand with it, typically causing it to crack in the process.

4.  Use a hairspray to prevent the sharpie manicure from smudging or smearing.

5.   If, for some reason, you contract a nail infection in your nail plate, make use of Vicks VapoRub to treat it.  Thymol, an ingredient of VapoRub fights yeasts and bacterial infection.

6.  Use non-acetone nail polish remover whenever possible, especially if you are trying to strengthen your nails.

7.  To seal your nail polish and to prevent it from chipping always apply a top coat running along the top edge of the nail.
